Timeline: 3000-1000 BC
Around 3000 BC, some of the Indo-Europeans,
who had been living in the area between the Black
Sea and the Caspian Sea, began moving out of their homeland both east
and west. Some settled in Urumchi, in modern China,
and others went west into Europe, and settled in France and England, Ireland
and Scotland.
At about the same time, in West
Asia and Egypt and India,
people began to use bronze to make weapons,
so we call this period the Bronze Age. People also started to live in cities
instead of towns, and to have more organized governments than before. In
Greece and Italy
also, people began to use bronze.
