Troy for Kids

Troy V

Troy V, starting about 2000 BC, was a bigger and nicer version of Troy IV, just as Troy IV was a nicer version of Troy III - it was still the same people. But these people lived better. Their houses were bigger and neater, and they swept their floors clean. They built in seats and benches along the walls. They had better ovens and hearths.

The Troy V people also stopped eating so much deer, and they seem to have herded animals more than hunting, because they ate more beef and pork. They traded with people all over West Asia and the eastern Mediterranean.

And they learned to use bronze.

Troy V lasted about 100-150 years, until about 1900 BC, but then something - we don't know what - happened to these people, and new people moved into Troy, who built Troy VI.
